Eliza Whitford.
Physiotherapist
Eliza is a physiotherapist with a strong passion for running related injuries, women’s health, and helping athletes perform at their best while staying healthy for the long term. With a background in both running and dance, she brings a well rounded understanding of movement, performance, and the demands placed on the body through sport and training.
She completed her Doctor of Physiotherapy following a Bachelor of Health Sciences and has developed extensive experience working with runners and active individuals across both clinical and high performance sporting environments. Eliza has worked alongside elite athletics programmes and athletes at both state and international level, giving her valuable insight into the physical and psychological demands of competitive sport.
At The Running Room, Eliza has a particular interest in overuse and running related injuries, including tendon pain, bone stress injuries, and hip, pelvis, and knee conditions. She combines detailed assessment, strength and conditioning principles, and evidence based rehabilitation to help runners return to training confidently and sustainably.
Eliza is especially passionate about supporting female athletes and has a strong clinical interest in Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S), bone health, and performance optimisation. She takes a collaborative and holistic approach to care, helping athletes better understand their bodies, training loads, recovery, and overall health to support both performance and longevity in sport.
Alongside her clinical work, Eliza is involved in physiotherapy education and enjoys supporting the development of future clinicians. Outside of clinic, you will usually find her running, strength training, or exploring new movement practices that continue to shape her approach to rehabilitation and performance.
