Nutrition & Race prep tips
Join us for a community run in preparation for the HOKA half marathon, just 1.5 weeks away!
We’ll kick things off by lacing up in a pair of HOKA Daily/Road Running trainers to trial during our community run.
We'll then dive into how to best fuel for the race and top nutrition tips from Sam, Sports Nutritionist at The Running Room.
We're also VERY excited to share that we will have a guest appearance from HOKA athlete and Ironman champ Steve McKenna! He will be chatting through his HOKA Half race and nutrition prep tips.
We’ll then put it all into action with a relaxed group run, and wrap things up with post-run hydration from Rhise.
Run, learn, and connect — all in one session, before the big day!

PRESENTERS
Bill Chesters
-
Bill takes a practical and personalised approach, focusing on understanding your goals and helping you return to the activities that matter most to you.
Bill has been competing as a runner for over ten years and understands first-hand the demands of training and the frustration of injury. He still competes regularly in road running events, with a recent 5km time of just over 15 minutes. This experience shapes how he works with patients, whether they are managing a niggle or working towards a goal race.
He trained at the University of Birmingham, graduating with a First Class degree, and has gained experience working within the NHS across a variety of settings. He was also part of the physiotherapy team at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games polyclinic, further developing his interest in working with active individuals.
He has continued to develop his clinical skills through postgraduate training in shoulder and hip rehabilitation, as well as strength and conditioning. He also holds a British Athletics Assistant Coaching qualification, which supports his work with runners and those returning to sport.
Outside of the clinic, he supports Liverpool Football Club and enjoys a round of golf with friends.
Samantha Mare
-
Passionate about female health and ensuring athletes are fuelling properly in order to practice in a safe and sustainable way which optimises performance, Samantha honed her specialties at Loughborough University, where she studied for an MSc in Sport and Exercise Nutrition.
Her project investigating the effects of short-term low energy availability on markers of cardiovascular health in women won the Prize for Academic Excellence and the Project Prize.
Now a qualified running and athletics coach, Samantha is looking to combine her two interests to ensure that every time you head out the door, you know you are in the best possible position to achieve your goals in a healthy and enjoyable way.
Sally Wood
-
She trained as an Elite Swimmer, competing for Scotland on many occasions including the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2008. She has now moved on to triathlon and competed in the Kona Ironman World Champs in 2022.
Her experience as a professional athlete has taught her the importance of commitment, dedication, and attention to detail which she brings to all her clients with a smile. She has a strong appreciation for helping others achieve their goals through a holistic and person-centered approach. She uses a combination of massage and dry needling and is a strong believer in strength training.
She loves treating all sporting injuries, especially triathletes and runners. She also has a special interest in Women’s Health and helping women regain control of their lives so that they can continue smashing their goals. Sally is also a qualified triathlon coach and can give a hand with planning training sessions or creating a plan.
In her spare time, you can find Sally on her bike well before the crows sing, running laps of Centennial Park, or ocean swimming with the dolphins. Sally is also a volunteer lifesaver and loves spending her time down by the beach watching the sunrise.
Ciara McComish
-
Over the years, Ciara has worked with a wide variety of clients, from desk workers to athletes, treating everything from everyday aches and pains to sports injuries. Lower limb injuries are a particular focus, and Ciara is passionate about helping clients recover and get back to doing what they love—whether that’s running, playing sports, or just moving without pain.
When not in the clinic you’ll find Ciara in the gym or sunrise swimming.
If you’re looking to get back on track, injury-free, Ciara is here to help! Book an appointment today and take the first step towards feeling your best.
