Running workshop
Join The Running Room x Sole Motive on Wednesday 8 July for a Run Melbourne launch event and ASICS wear test.
This event is designed for runners preparing for Run Melbourne, whether you are taking on the 5.5K, 10K or Half Marathon. The evening will give runners the chance to test out selected ASICS running shoes, connect with the Sole Motive and Running Room teams, and get practical advice for the final stages of their race preparation.
The session will include a relaxed group run or movement-based component, along with education around training load, injury prevention, footwear selection, tapering and race-week preparation. It is a great opportunity to ask questions, trial shoes in a real running environment, and leave with clear take-home strategies for race day.
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable running clothing and bring anything they would usually run with.
Come along, test the latest ASICS footwear, meet the team, and launch your Run Melbourne race week with confidence.

PRESENTERS
Georgie Macdonald
-
Georgie has extensive experience working with VAFA and AFLW football leagues, track and field athletes, and Women’s NPL soccer teams.
With a background in middle-distance track running and basketball, Georgie has a passion for treating a wide range of injuries, particularly sports and running-related conditions.
Outside of work, she enjoys running along the Yarra, exploring Melbourne’s best coffee and wine spots with friends, and escaping to the stunning Great Ocean Road coastline on weekends.
Ben Drenovac
-
Ben's professional journey began in country Victoria, where he honed his skills in a sporting private practice and with an Australian Rules Football club. His expertise extends across football and basketball, making him a versatile and knowledgeable physiotherapist.
As an active individual, Ben's enthusiasm for sports led him to further qualifications as a Sports Physiotherapist, and he is currently training to become a qualified strength and conditioning coach. This extensive knowledge allows him to craft comprehensive rehabilitation programmes, ensuring a full return to performance post-injury. Ben is also skilled in dry needling, which he uses to benefit his clients where appropriate.
Like many, Ben turned to running when his cricket season was cancelled due to Covid-19. This newfound passion saw him complete three marathons, culminating in an impressive sub-3-hour marathon at the Gold Coast in 2022. He now sets his sights on the Chicago Marathon, aiming to use his Gold Coast time as a qualifier. Ben relishes the challenge of self-improvement through running, and cherishes the friendships and post-run coffees that come with it.
When he’s not working, you’ll likely find Ben exploring London's many running routes or avidly watching football games across Europe.
We’re thrilled to have Ben on board and can’t wait for you to meet him at the Running Room!
Hayden Farrelly-Whiley
-
Hayden combines evidence-based practice with a practical approach to movement, strength, and rehabilitation — helping clients move confidently and return to what they love.
After completing his Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Newcastle, Hayden has continued to build his expertise through experience managing a wide range of musculoskeletal and sports-related conditions. He has worked as a physiotherapist with Lakes United Rugby League and St Kevin’s Old Boys, supporting athletes through injury rehabilitation and return-to-sport. He is currently completing a Master’s in Sports Physiotherapy and a Master’s in High Performance Sport, further developing his knowledge in performance, load management, and return-to-sport programming. This ongoing study allows him to integrate the latest research and high-performance principles into everyday clinical practice.
Hayden’s approach to rehabilitation is also shaped by personal experience. Having gone through his own ACL injury and rehabilitation journey, he understands first-hand the physical and mental challenges that come with long-term recovery. This experience drives his commitment to structured, progressive rehab and supporting clients through every phase — from early recovery to confidently returning to sport.
He takes a collaborative, hands-on approach and works closely with each client to create individualised plans that reflect their goals and lifestyle.
